The Holy Year of St. Francis: Proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV, marks the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi's Transitus (death/entry into heaven). This Franciscan Jubilee focuses on themes of peace, ecology, and gospel poverty, offering a plenary indulgence to pilgrims visiting Franciscan churches. At Beloved Disciple Parish we will celebrate in several ways.
- Our first meeting will be May 3 at 12:15pm in the Beloved Disciple Church Library to discuss details and celebrate this incredible opportunity to learn about St. Francis of Assisi.
- Our first meeting of the Franciscan Book Club will be Sunday, June 7th at 12:15pm in the Beloved Disciple Church Library. Our first book will be Francis of Assisi, Performing the Gospel Life, by Lawrence S. Cunningham.
- On June 10 we have arranged a tour of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted in Youngstown Ohio. We are hoping to have transportation for the group that signs up. Mark your calendar and more details will be forthcoming.
We will try and meet each month until October 3, when we celebrate the Transitus of St. Francis. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Deacon Owen or Christine Guarnieri, OFS in the Parish Office. Hope you can join us.
